Krzysztof Kieslowski (Warsaw, 1941 -1996). One of the last and greatest European cinema authors, he studied at the famous Lodz Cinematography School in the end of the Sixties: after a long career as a documentaries director in Poland, he ahs been discovered by the international critics at Cannes Film Festival in 1988, where he presented in the Official Selection the choc-movie Krotki film o zabijaniu' (Short film about killing, that will become the fifth episode of his monument work, the ten-movies fresco of Polish society Dekalog. Since then he will work in France, giving birth to challenging movies. His cinema blends philosophical reflection on the intertwining between contingency and necessity in lifetime, to a sharp look con the major political and social contradictions of our times.
